Climate effects on Ecosystems - Research group of Veiko Lehsten
The research of the my research group focuses on applied biogeographical themes, particularly responses of vegetation and ecosystem properties to changes in climate and land use both in the past as well as in the future, with important applications both for advancing theoretical understanding and practical ecosystem management. Main areas of research are analyses of the effects of climate on natural phenomena, such as vegetation (using dynamic vegetation models), wildfires (using statistical methods) or ecosystem services as well as their interactions with each other. We are also active in the analysis of phenology and have been assessing carbon fluxes of natural systems and their relation to land use and climate. I am currently employments at the Department of Dynamic Ecology / Macroecology at the WSL/ Switzerland (60%) and at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science at Lund University; (INES;40%). At INES I have currently three PhD students employed and over the last years 4 postdocs were working in my projects.
