Global Ecosystem Dynamics

The course covers ecosystem processes from an inter-disciplinary perspective with a focus on the processes which govern and regulate vegetation dynamics. The overall goal is for the students to understand the interplay between biotic and abiotic processes – both natural and man-made – in various dimensions such as: dimensions of time – Ice ages, present and future and dimensions of space – local, regional and global.

Teaching on the first part of the course consists of lectures, practicals, field exercises and excursions. The second part of the course is a literature-based project.
